Bengaluru – After a mega opposition meeting held in Bengaluru, the newly formed alliance of opposition parties has announced its official name as “Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance” (INDIA). Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge made the announcement during a joint press conference, emphasizing the alliance’s commitment to safeguarding democracy and the Constitution.

Addressing the media, Kharge stated, “This is a very important meeting to save democracy and the Constitution.” He further added, “Our alliance will be called the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance,” highlighting the alliance’s focus on national development and inclusivity.

The opposition meeting, attended by 26 parties, served as a platform to discuss strategies and goals for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Kharge emphasized the unity and determination of the alliance, stating, “We’ll fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly and succeed.”

As part of the coordination efforts, an 11-member coordination committee will be established to streamline the alliance’s activities. Kharge stated that the committee members’ names would be announced in Mumbai during the next opposition meeting, the date of which is yet to be finalized.

Additionally, a secretariat will be established in Delhi for campaign management and coordination of other committees within the alliance. Kharge expressed optimism about the outcome of the meeting, stating, “Today’s meeting was constructive and fruitful.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, one of the key participants in the opposition meeting, emphasized the alliance’s strength and patriotism. “You heard of UPA, NDA is still there. But NDA, can you challenge INDIA? BJP, can you challenge INDIA? We love our motherland, we are patriotic,” Banerjee passionately stated during the joint press conference.

Several other prominent leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, also expressed their support for the alliance. Kejriwal criticized the ruling government, stating, “They have ruined the economy, railways in the last 9 years. Youth, farmers, businessmen, industrialists, everyone is unhappy with this NDA government.”

Gandhi emphasized that the opposition’s fight was against the ideology that they believe is attacking the country. He stated, “It was a productive meeting today. The fight is against the BJP’s ideology; they are attacking the country.”

The opposition alliance aims to present a united front against the ruling party, focusing on national development and inclusive governance as its core agenda. With the alliance’s name unveiled as “INDIA,” the opposition parties have set the stage for an intense political battle in the upcoming 2024 elections.
